A. Bakradze referred to Inanishvili's short stories as "bread for the soul." His stories possess another main protagonist – the Georgian word, free and capacious, flexible and omnipotent; the stories are distinguished by the simplicity and precision of their phrasing. The essential characteristics of Inanishvili's work are a tender love and respect for humanity, lyricism of narration, and the masterful depiction of images and characters.
Based on Inanishvili's scripts, the following films have been shot: "Ardadegebi" (Holidays), "Dabrunebuli Ghimili" (The Returned Smile), "Vighatsas Avtobusze Agviandeba" (Someone is Late for the Bus) (co-author: N. Mchedlidze), "Perma Mtashi" (Farm in the Mountains), "Zapkhuli Soplad" (Summer in the Countryside) ("Pastorali" [Pastoral], co-author: O. Ioseliani), "Natvris Khe" (The Wishing Tree) (based on G. Leonidze, co-author: T. Abuladze), "Kvishani Darchebiano" (The Sands Will Remain) (co-author: G. Shengelaia). The writer's short stories have been translated into foreign languages. He is buried in the Didube Pantheon of Writers and Public Figures.
