Ivnev Rurik (real name and surname – Mikhail Aleksandrovich Kovalyov) [11(23). II. 1891, Tbilisi, – 19. II. 1981, Moscow], Russian poet. He began his literary career with the collection "Self-immolation" (1913). He was an active member of the Ego-Futurists, and after the revolution of 1917 – of the Imaginist circle. He is the author of the poetry collections: "My Country" (1943), "Selected Poems. 1912–1972" (1974). He spent several years in Georgia. Ivnev's literary activity is closely connected with the life and culture of Georgia. Besides poems, he has written novels on Georgian themes: "Love Without Love" (1925), "Open House" (1927) and others. He translated the works of Georgian classics and his contemporary poets, as well as the works of Azerbaijani and Ossetian writers.
