St. James Monastery

Monastery of James, son of Zebedee (St. James Monastery), a Georgian monastery on Mount Zion in Jerusalem, founded in the 5th century. It remained in the possession of the Georgians until the 10-1140s, after which the Latins transferred it to the Armenians. Later, following his conquest of Jerusalem, Saladin formally confirmed the ownership of the Monastery to the Armenians.
