Zamyatnin, Sergey (April 9 [21], 1899, Pavlovsk, present-day Voronezh Oblast – November 5, 1958, Leningrad, present-day Saint Petersburg), Russian archaeologist and researcher of prehistoric archaeology.
Zamyatnin discovered and investigated Paleolithic sites, including Berdyzh, Gagarino, Kostyonki, Satanidar, and others. He created the periodization of the Caucasian Paleolithic period. He studied the local variations of the Paleolithic cultural and Neolithic art.
In Georgia, he was the first to discover Upper Paleolithic rock paintings. Based on materials from a cave near Adler, he established the stratigraphic layers of Paleolithic sites.
He was awarded a state order and medals.
