Zabolotsky, Nikolay (April 24 [May 7], 1903, Kazan – October 14, 1958, Moscow), Russian poet, translator. He was a winner of the Shota Rustaveli State Prize (1975, posthumously).
In 1925, he graduated from the Leningrad Pedagogical Institute. He published his first work in 1928, and his first collection of poems in 1929.
Zabolotsky made a major contribution to the Georgian-Russian literary relations. He became particularly close to Georgian poets: S. Chikovani, G. Leonidze, and I. Abashidze.
Zabolotsky translated into the Russian language The Knight in the Panther's Skin, as well as the works of D. Guramishvili, Vazha-Pshavela, G. Orbeliani, I. Chavchavadze, and A. Tsereteli. He also translated poems by A. Abasheli, G. Abashidze, T. Tabidze, S. Chikovani, K. Kaladze, I. Noneshvili, and others.
