Wassaf —Abdullah ibn Fadlallah Shihab al-Din Shirazi (late 13th century – early 14th century) was an Iranian historian. He is also known by the honorific title “Wassaf al-Hadrat” (“Panegyrist of His Majesty”).
He is the author of the major historical work in Persian Tārīkh-e Wasaf (“The History of Wasaf”). This work is a direct continuation of Juvayni’s chronicle and covers the years from 1257 to 1323. It contains extensive information about the taxation system of the Ilkhanate.
Wasaf’s sources included: the historical works of Juvayni and Rashid al-Din, documents from the financial administration, his own observations, and accounts from eyewitnesses.
The chronicle also provides valuable information about Georgia during the period of Mongol domination.
